N’Djamena: A Public Health Situation Raising Serious Concerns!
What is really happening in N’Djamena these days? Malaria appears to be affecting numerous households, while hospitals and clinics are experiencing a significant influx of patients.
Adding to this worrying situation is dengue fever, recently reported by the Ministry of Public Health, whose symptoms can easily be mistaken for those of malaria.
Even more concerning, according to information brought to our attention, La Renaissance Hospital, which is anything but a modern healthcare facility, lacks the laboratory reagents required to conduct dengue diagnostic tests and refers patients to a private clinic in the capital. This situation raises serious questions about the diagnostic capabilities of our public healthcare institutions.
Are we witnessing a seasonal surge in malaria cases, or are we facing an epidemic?
The government must communicate regularly, reassure the population, and take the necessary measures to address the situation. Public health must not be left in a state of uncertainty.
